Founded in 2005 in Ravenna by Catia Garzia and Panfilo Salciccia, Saga began with a simple but ambitious idea: to transform switch point repairs—once considered only an emergency service—into a scheduled, precise, and technologically advanced solution.
From this initial vision, Saga has grown step by step into a leading, innovative company in railway and tramway maintenance. Over the years, we have expanded our services, invested in research, patented groundbreaking solutions, and built strategic partnerships with both public and private organizations.
Our growth has always been guided by a clear mission: to bring innovation to maintenance through a combination of technical expertise, operational efficiency, and uncompromising safety. This commitment has led to the development of cutting-edge systems such as the RSW System for robotic switch point welding in workshops and the USBOT System, a collaborative robot for ultrasonic inspections—cornerstones of our technological advancement.
Today, Saga operates nationwide, with a regional office in Abruzzo and headquarters in Ravenna. We work on railway and tram networks, delivering on-site repairs, workshop refurbishments, and interventions on urban curves using custom-designed bimodal vehicles. We maintain strong, long-term collaborations with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and numerous local public transport operators.
Beyond field operations, we founded PCM S.r.l. and the PCM Institute, a certified training and research hub where we develop specialized technical expertise and new maintenance methodologies. For us, growth also means sharing knowledge and building skills for the future.
Innovation at Saga is never an end in itself—it’s a tool to improve mobility, reduce environmental impact, and ensure infrastructure reliability. Guided by our core values of transparency, quality, responsibility and sustainability, we look ahead with a clear vision: to lead the way in smarter, digital, and safer railway maintenance.
